Call for Board of Directors Nominations: Federation of Galaxy Explorers (FOGE)

This is a call for nominations to the Board of Directors for the Federation of Galaxy Explorers, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring youth in space-related science and engineering. Nominations will be accepted from October 17th to November 14th, 2025 and selected BOD members will start a two-year term starting on December 1st, 2025.

This will be a working Board of Directors: FOGE does not currently have paid staff and will rely on volunteer work to be successful. Members of the BOD are expected to take initiative on needed projects and efforts, and to attend a monthly video call with the rest of the BOD.

A new voyage has begun! FOGE is focusing efforts on making the Battle of the Rockets event successful, which will take place in April 2026.

Executive Director / Chair of the Board

• Convenes BOD for official business

• Develops annual report of FOGE activities to BOD

• Oversees strategic planning and alignment with STEM education goals

• Serves as primary spokesperson for FOGE at public events and media engagements

• Facilitates board member onboarding and leadership development

  
  

Vice Chair of the Board of Directors

• Supports Chair in governance and leadership duties

• Assumes Chair responsibilities in their absence

• Leads special initiatives

• Coordinates annual board self-assessment and performance review

  
  

Secretary of the Board of Directors

• Schedules monthly BOD virtual meetings

• Records and distributes meeting minutes and action items

• Maintains official organizational records and compliance documentation

• Oversees board communications and internal documentation systems

  
  

Treasurer of the Board of Directors

• Reports on financial status of FOGE to BOD

• Runs annual budget process

• Oversees grant reporting and financial audits

• Advises on fundraising strategy and donor stewardship

• Files annual nonprofit compliance documents

  
  

Director of Student Outreach, Board of Directors

• Develops and manages student recruitment strategies for competitions

• Builds relationships with schools, youth organizations, and educators

• Coordinates mentorship programs and volunteer engagement

• Tracks student participation metrics and impact reporting

  
  

Director of Marketing, Board of Directors

• Designs and executes promotional campaigns for FOGE programs

• Manages social media presence and digital outreach

• Oversees branding, visual identity, and public relations

• Develops marketing materials for sponsors, educators, and families

  
  

Director of Strategic Partnerships, Board of Directors

• Cultivates relationships with industry, government, and academic partners

• Identifies and secures sponsorships and in-kind donations

• Facilitates collaborative STEM initiatives with aligned organizations

• Leads partnership MOUs and joint programming efforts

  
  

Member-at-Large, Board of Directors (x2)

• Participates in board decision-making and committee work

• Supports event planning and volunteer coordination

• Provides input on program development and community engagement

• Acts as ambassador for FOGE in local and regional networks
